Yesterday I had a little ceremony of acknowledgement for the changing seasons. It including reconnecting with the above representation of Tawa. Despite the northeast's lack of sunny weather I am determined to celebrate tomorrow's summer solstice properly. So today there will be some heliocentric creative endeavors while the rain falls.
For one thing I am planning to make a very simple little altEr cloth to hold the celebratory candles. This piece of damask has been a cherished favorite for quite some time. I am going to hand stitch a few strips that alternate one side of the fabric with the other:
But first I have to get cleaned up and conquer a short list of more mundane tasks. I'm finding it very challenging to get myself moving in that sort of direction but yesterday I didn't even make the effort so today I'd really better get it in gear.
Everything seems to moving extra slowly this week. I started this visual journal spread the other night when I was too revved up from a day in the [sunny] garden to settle down for sleep. Since then it's been sitting on my work table creating cognitive dissonance because the grayed-out quality of the outer landscape is so visible from all the windows in this room. So I guess that's one decent reason for working smaller and quicker. All the same I am looking forward to the challenge of keeping it real and finding a way to incorporate What Was with What Is.
And what, exactly, will I do with this bead? There are five of them ...
P.S. while I was shaping this post the sun broke through the clouds! Don't know how long it's certainly encouraging me to get the lead out and do at least a couple of the things that most need doing...
What a vision to see your dandy"lion" peering at me when I clicked on the link to your update. He's magnificient!
Glad to hear the sun is peeking at you. We've had gorgeous weather here, but now it's hot and humid. Yuck. Do hope the sun comes out your way and stays out in about a week!
Love this orange reverse print fabric. You and your bright colors!! If there's no sunshine - you are sure to conjure some up one way or another.

Our weather, too, has been hot and humid. Guess we are always longing for what we don't have.
Oooh, another altER cloth!
Just made a long post on your Dandy Lion post, but it didn't take. He's charming!

Cathie - I was thinking of you the other day while feeling unwell - taking some couch time and feeling crappy enough to channel surf rather than reading. Brett Michaels was hosting a countdown of the 100 greatest hard rock songs of all times. The association (between you & Poison) cheered me right up!
Jen - I did make a very simple cloth from the damask, lined with an abstract sun-like cotton. But I haven't kept things as straightforward with the dandelion project. Every time I pick it up my ideas elaborate on themselves. So it remains in progress. Jim doesn't seem to mind ...
jude - it was a good weekend in most respects and now here we are at the front edge of a new lunar cycle. Winds blowing like crazy along with the continued rain.
